St James
Designed to complement the home’s Scandinavian style, this kitchen combines Scandinavian functionality and inspired simplicity, with an Australiana influence reflected in its open-plan layout. Set within a new extension to an older home, the space is filled with natural light, with warm timber tones, soft colours and clean lines creating a calm, open feel.
Cabinetry Palette & Materials
Tasmanian Oak cabinetry in Polytec Woodmatt introduces natural warmth and texture, reflecting the earthy materials often found in Scandinavian interiors. Gossamer White on the feature rangehood and the warm white, softly textured Stone Ambassador Firtina benchtop balance the timber tones, keeping the palette light and understated. Together, the natural finishes and muted colours create a considered balance of warmth, simplicity and functionality.
Island Design
A standout feature is the integrated kitchen island, designed with the look of a piece of bespoke dining furniture. Solid Tasmanian Oak posts and an exposed timber frame support the stone benchtop, with counter-height seating wrapping around the island. This open, furniture-style design creates a natural connection between the kitchen and the adjoining living space.
Designed for Everyday Living
Functionality has been carefully considered, with integrated Fisher & Paykel refrigeration and a dishwasher, a double Westinghouse oven stack, and a 40-bottle Vintec dual-zone wine fridge incorporated into the island cabinetry. Floating shelves across the workstation provide convenient storage without compromising the clean aesthetic, while the open coffee nook pairs everyday practicality with a tiled splashback that adds colour and texture to the space.
A concealed appliance cabinet keeps everyday essentials tucked away, featuring a Tasmanian Oak interior and sensor-activated lighting. LED strip lighting beneath the floating shelves illuminates the workbench and coffee nook, providing practical task lighting while maintaining the kitchen’s streamlined look.
Finishing Touches
The finer details reinforce the kitchen’s Scandinavian aesthetic, from the curved Kethy Archive timber handles to the subtle bevelled-edge detailing that maintains a clean, understated look. The client-selected pale sage green subway tiles that are laid vertically across the splashback, with their glossy finish catching the natural light and adding subtle colour and texture to the space.
