Mount Lawley

Designed for a character home, this Mount Lawley kitchen responds to its architecture with a focus on flow, detailing, and considered curves. Existing arched details were embraced rather than altered, with the island and cabinetry subtly echoing these forms to create a natural sense of movement, grounded by a muted blue-green cabinetry finish that adds depth to the space.

Cabinetry & Colour Palette

Laminex Spinifex forms the main cabinetry colour – a blue-green colour with a muted grey base that makes a statement without overpowering the space.

This is paired with open shelving in Polytec Boston Oak, a warm tan-brown timber grain that introduces natural texture and contrast. Together, the palette balances cool and warm tones, creating a grounded, cohesive feel.

Stone Benchtop & Tiling

Stone Ambassador White Truffle stone runs across the benchtops, offering a creamy-white base with soft, natural veining. The gentle movement in the stone complements the cabinetry tones while enhancing the light and bright finish throughout the space.

A mosaic kit kat tiled splashback in soft white and grey tones tie seamlessly into the kitchen palette. The subtly textured finish and linear format introduce depth and visual interest, adding a textural element to the kitchen.

Curves & Character

A key design driver was the home’s existing curved elements, including a kitchen bulkhead and arched entry. The curved bulkhead defines the kitchen within the open-plan layout, distinguishing it from the living and dining zones. This is echoed through the kitchen design, with softened curves in the island bench and open shelving, creating continuity between old and new architecture, enhancing flow and reinforcing the home’s original character.

Tapware & Hardware

Bevel-edge finger pulls to the lower cabinetry maintain a clean, minimal profile, while larger Manovella Imogen oval-profile handles in a gunmetal finish are used on the pantry and dishwasher, introducing another curved detail.

The ABI Elysian gooseneck kitchen mixer in gunmetal, along with matching sinkware, completes the palette, offering a dark, modern metallic finish that sits quietly against the softer cabinetry tones. The finish acts as a grounding neutral, tying together the cool green-blue and warm timber elements with a subtle contemporary edge.

Appliances & Functionality

The kitchen is designed for everyday functionality and was reoriented within the open-plan space to improve connection to the living and dining areas, creating a greater sense of flow.

Functionality is further enhanced through a considered appliance layout, featuring a Bosch oven and combination microwave stacked within integrated cabinetry, alongside a Bosch induction cooktop and fully integrated dishwasher for a streamlined finish.

Storage is highly resolved, with a Häfele pull-out two-tier unit for narrow pantry organisation and a Euro Cargo bin system for concealed waste management. Additional storage is incorporated to the rear of the island bench, maintaining practicality without visual clutter.

An appliance cupboard with bifold doors conceals everyday items, reinforcing the clean, minimal aesthetic. Finished with a contrasting Boston Oak interior – matching the open shelving – it introduces a subtle point of warmth and visual interest. Integrated LED lighting within the cupboard activates via sensor, enhancing functionality, while additional remote controlled LED strip lighting extends across the kitchen workspace, providing both task and ambient feature lighting.
