What Happens When You Renovate With The Maker Designer Kitchens?

Are you thinking about renovating your kitchen, but feeling overwhelmed about where to begin? Let us help. As a leading manufacturer of cabinetry and stone in Australia, we have perfected our kitchen renovation process over 24 years. Our priority is to not only bring your dream kitchen to life, but to also make the entire experience a positive one. From design to installation, we value clear and constant communication throughout our three-step design process. Keep reading to discover exactly how we transform your kitchen.

Step 1: Design

When you renovate with us, we like to involve you right from the start. We want to get to know the space we are working with, how you like to use your kitchen and your unique design preferences. Our kitchen renovations always start with a personalised home consultation.

A home consultation with our interior designers

When you renovate your kitchen with us, the process begins with a design consultation at your home with one of our experienced designers so we can view and assess the space you wish to renovate for your kitchen. If you are building a new extension or new home our designers will work also with your home plans to develop the design for your luxury kitchen.

Before we start the renovation process, our priority is to analyse the kitchen area and collaborate with you to come up with the best renovation plan that works for you. We believe that creating a functional kitchen starts from the inside out. As such, we design with functionality in mind to ensure that every aspect of your kitchen meets your needs, preferences, and lifestyle. This way, we can guarantee that the kitchen renovation project we undertake for you will be functional, practical, and tailored to your unique requirements.

Once we have established the functional elements of your kitchen renovation, we can then move on to exploring design styles and aesthetics that resonate with your vision. We are well versed in a wide range of kitchen design styles, including modern, coastal, industrial, Hamptons and many more. We aim to collaborate with you to develop a design concept that reflects your personal style, preferences, and budget, resulting in a stunning and functional kitchen space that perfectly suits your needs.

Initial conception presentation at our showroom

2-3 weeks after your design consultation, we invite you to meet with us in our showroom to present your initial kitchen concept design and run through the estimate for your project. In our showroom, we will be able to explain and demonstrate all the innovative design solutions we recommend for your new kitchen, including appliances and other inclusions that will elevate your kitchen. This includes things like cabinetry styles, drawer sizes, smart storage solutions from Hafele, integrated lighting options and smart technology.

We will also start to consider benchtop options and appliance selections, as these both have a large impact on your design. Once we have agreed on these key items we accept a partial payment for your kitchen project and enter the full design development stage for your kitchen renovation.

Design development

Design development is when we start to really finalise your kitchen design and make some firm decisions on things like cabinetry colours, benchtop selections and appliances. With over two decades of experience in the kitchen renovation industry, we have the capabilities to design and build your dream luxury kitchen. Our experienced design team is at the forefront of the latest kitchen design trends – click here to read our free trends ebook.

Step 2: Build

The second stage in our three-step kitchen renovation process is the build phase. This is where we begin to see your dream kitchen come to life. The build stage involves the following:

Drafting and manufacture

Having finalised the design of your kitchen, we begin the drafting and manufacture. This involves drafting the final plans and ordering all the materials required for your design. The timing of this stage usually depends on the individual products and selections for your kitchen. Some materials will take longer to source and build, for example, vinyl cabinetry will take longer than melamine as it is individually made to your exact size requirements for your kitchen space. This is the difference between custom and off-the-shelf kitchen options – you may end up waiting a little longer for some materials – but at the end of the day, you are rewarded with an exceptional one-of-a-kind luxury kitchen.

If you would like to discuss manufacturing timeframes, it’s a good idea to connect with us as every custom kitchen remodel we do is different and timeframes will always vary depending on the project.

Preliminary assembly and quality control

All our custom kitchens are pre-assembled in our factory before we install them in your home. This is part of our quality control process; ensuring that all the components fit perfectly before we install them at your home.

Our dedicated factory team constructs your kitchen using the exact materials and works hand-in-hand with our kitchen designers, drafting team, site managers, cabinet makers and stone masons to ensure that all aspects of your design are as you would expect before we install it at your home. If you’re interested to see some examples of this, follow us on Instagram as we regularly post these pre-assembled kitchens here.

Step 3: Install

The third and final stage of our three-step kitchen renovation process is the installation of your kitchen in your home. Here’s what that looks like:

Smooth install thanks to our professional on-site coordination

We understand that kitchen renovations can be disruptive in your home. With that in mind, our dedicated team of cabinet makers and stone masons work together to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. Our experienced site managers oversee the team and work to ensure the installation goes to plan.

Depending on the size and complexity of your kitchen, our cabinetry usually takes anywhere from 2 to 5 days to install. Only on completion of the cabinetry installation will we do the site measure for your stone requirements to ensure that we get the exact measurements for manufacture at our Bassendean factory and installation at your home. You can expect the timeframe for the manufacture of your kitchen benchtops and installation in your kitchen to be approximately 2-3 weeks.
