Step 1: Design
Designing your dream kitchen is all about understanding your individual needs for your kitchen and how you’ll use it. We do this in two phases.
Pre-Design
At The Maker Designer Kitchens, every luxury renovation begins with a well-structured pre-design phase – crafted to ensure your project starts with clarity and confidence.
Your personalised design consultation
Your journey begins with an in-home or showroom consultation, where our expert designers learn about your lifestyle, vision, and design preferences. Whether you’re after a coastal retreat or a bold modern statement, this is where we define the aesthetic and practical goals for your kitchen renovation.
Scope and budget setting
We take the time to outline your renovation scope and establish a realistic budget. This ensures that your vision aligns with your investment and helps guide design decisions moving forward, giving you peace of mind from the outset.
Site measure and initial sketch
If needed, we’ll conduct a detailed site measure to ensure precision. From here, your designer will create a concept sketch tailored to your space – bringing together form and function in a layout that reflects your unique needs.

Initial concept presentation
2-3 weeks after your design consultation, we invite you to meet with us in our showroom to present your initial kitchen concept design and run through the estimate for your project. In our showroom, we will be able to explain and demonstrate all the innovative design solutions we recommend for your new kitchen, including appliances and other inclusions that will elevate your kitchen.
Transparent pricing estimate
With your project brief and concept in place, we provide an initial estimate. This offers a clear overview of your potential investment and allows for any refinements before moving forward.
Design Development
With your project brief and initial concept established, the design development stage is where your new kitchen truly begins to take shape.
Detailed 2D drawings
At this stage, we create detailed 2D drawings that map out the layout of your kitchen. This includes cabinetry dimensions, appliance placement, and spatial planning – ensuring your design is as functional as it is beautiful.
Selecting finishes and features
Our designers will guide you through selecting your colour palette, cabinetry profiles, benchtops, handles, and feature finishes. Whether you’re drawn to a textured modern look or a more classic Hamptons style, we’ll help you make cohesive choices that elevate your space.
Appliance integration
This is also the point where you’ll finalise your kitchen appliance selections. From premium ovens and induction cooktops to integrated refrigeration and smart tap systems, we’ll ensure each inclusion aligns perfectly with your lifestyle and design.
3D visuals and formal quotation
We then present your fully rendered 3D concept drawings alongside a formal project quote. This gives you a complete picture of your future kitchen – both visually and financially – so you can feel confident before proceeding.
Ready to manufacture
Once you’re satisfied with the design and project scope, your approval moves us into the manufacturing stage!

Step 2: Manufacture
Once your design is finalised, your kitchen enters the manufacturing phase – where concept becomes creation. At The Maker Designer Kitchens, this is where our in-house expertise sets us apart.
Custom cabinetry and stone production
Every element of your kitchen is built from scratch in our Bassendean facility – Australia’s largest residential cabinetry and stone manufacturing site. Our skilled cabinetmakers and stonemasons begin crafting your kitchen using your final design specifications, ensuring each component is made to measure and completely bespoke.
Premium materials and trusted hardware
We fit every kitchen with high-end, reliable inclusions as standard. Soft-close drawers, precision hinges, and premium finishes are all part of the build. We partner with trusted brands like Häfele, Blum, and Caesarstone – names known for their durability, innovation, and superior performance.
Full warehouse assembly and inspection
Before anything leaves our facility, your kitchen is fully assembled in our warehouse. This allows our team to check every joint, panel, and fitting as part of our rigorous quality control process. It’s this extra step that ensures everything is perfect before it reaches your home.
A seamless handover to installation
Once quality checks are complete, your kitchen is carefully prepared for delivery and installation. Because our design and manufacturing teams work closely together under one roof, this transition is seamless – saving you time and reducing stress while maintaining our signature level of quality.

Step 3: Install
The final stage of our kitchen renovation process is the installation of your kitchen in your home. Here’s what that looks like:
Smooth install thanks to our professional on-site coordination
We understand that kitchen renovations can be disruptive in your home. With that in mind, our dedicated team of cabinet makers and stone masons work together to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. Our experienced site managers oversee the team and work to ensure the installation goes to plan.
Depending on the size and complexity of your kitchen, our cabinetry usually takes anywhere from 2 to 5 days to install. Only on completion of the cabinetry installation will we do the site measure for your stone requirements to ensure that we get the exact measurements for manufacture at our Bassendean factory and installation at your home. You can expect the timeframe for the manufacture of your kitchen benchtops and installation in your kitchen to be approximately 2-3 weeks.
