"Working at The Maker has given me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from the team around me, which has helped me develop as a tradie and become much more confident in my ability to complete work to a high standard. There’s always something new to learn on every project, and I really value being part of a workplace that encourages continuous learning and supports personal and professional growth."

"I joined The Maker in January 2013 as an Apprentice Cabinet Maker. One of my first tasks was painting the flooring supports within the Bargstedt automated board storage system – the same supports that are still used today to hold and organise our board stock. I completed much of my apprenticeship with the Exclusive Kitchens side of the business, and since then I’ve taken on various roles throughout my 13 years with the group. From Kitchen Installer and Glazing Installer through to Site Supervisor, all working towards my role today as Installation manager."

    Jamie

"I started my career with The Maker in January 2006 as a 15-year-old factory hand. Six months later, I was offered an apprenticeship in cabinet making, which set the foundation for my career. After completing my apprenticeship, I moved into cabinet drafting, eventually specialising in high-end retail projects. I later transitioned into the stone division, taking over the drafting function before progressing into Production Manager and now my current role as Pre-Production and Stone Manager. Over the years, I've been fortunate to gain exposure to almost every part of the business. The Maker is a great place to start and grow a career, with the size and diversity of the business creating real opportunities for development and progression. I look forward to seeing what the future brings and continuing to grow alongside the business."

"I joined The Maker in 2018 as a Glazing Production Coordinator and have since progressed into the roles of Glazing Production Manager and, most recently, Assistant Manufacturing Manager. While my background was in glass and glazing, The Maker has given me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge across cabinet making, stone masonry and the wider manufacturing industry. Being part of the ABN Group has also provided valuable insights into the residential building process and allowed me to build connections with experienced professionals across the industry. I have been continually supported to develop my leadership and manufacturing knowledge, including receiving a business-funded scholarship to complete a Diploma of Leadership and Management. The opportunities I have received at The Maker have helped me grow both personally and professionally."

"What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is seeing a project come to life, from raw materials through to the finished product. I like the challenge of solving problems and being able to develop my skills along the way. The team is supportive, and everyone is treated equally and with respect, regardless of their role or experience. It really feels like a family here, and I've always felt like a valued part of the team."

"Being an apprentice at The Maker has given me the opportunity to develop my skills while learning from an experienced and supportive team. I feel comfortable asking questions and leaning on others for guidance when I need it, which has helped me continue to grow in my trade. I do also enjoy the fact that I can learn varying aspects of my trade, such as cabinet making, machine operation, cabinet installation and glazing. The Maker has provided me with many opportunities to learn skills that I wouldn’t find at other companies."
